HUMANE EDUCATION

Much of the indifference, apathy, and even cruelty we see has its origin in the false education given the young concerning the rights of animals, and their duty towards them.” -J. Todd Ferrier (1855-1943)

Education and awareness can elevate the role of companion animals in our society, create a culture of compassion and caring, encourage adoption, and fight apathy and cruelty to animals. Education and awareness are essential to building a society that places significant value on the role of companion animals. They are vital components of character education and violence-prevention and encourage a culture of respect and compassion. Violent acts toward animals have long been recognized as indicators of a dangerous trend toward violence to humans, and education can break the cycle of abuse. Our goal will be to provide the public with the necessary education to be respectful and responsibility toward all animals and to build in them the confidence to teach others the importance of compassion. Through partnerships with educators, civic and community organizations, and pet-related businesses, we’ll educate both children and adults about a variety of humane issues such as animal overpopulation, animal cruelty, proper pet care, animal safety, and more.

People do not absorb moral lessons from those who trample on their feelings. Rather, they forever associate the unpleasantness of the spokesperson with the cause itself.” -Judith Martin
