What to do when you lose a pet

How you search for your lost pet depends on a lot of factors, including the species, the circumstances, the pet’s personality, and much more. You can find out more using the links below, but for most all pets the basic steps to take are:

1. Search the immediate area thoroughly
2. Notify your microchip manufacturer and your homeowner’s association

4. Tag your car. It works! Find out more here
5. Notify Dallas Animal Services by emailing Tony, the Lost & Found Coordinator at DASLost(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)DallasCityHall.com. Tony can not only take your report, but he can check it against the Lost & Found reports on file.
6. Dog owners, fill out the Lost Pet form on the Lost Dogs of Texas Facebook page
7. Notify the veterinary clinics in your area. You can find them quickly and easily using Animal Help Now
8. Begin checking local shelters daily. You can search Lost Pet listing from Dallas Animal Services on PetHarbor.com, or use the “Pet Listings” tab on the Dallas Animal Services Facebook page
